Asmita was born out of a profound vision and an unwavering passion to create a nurturing and empowering environment for children with special needs. Our journey began with a simple yet powerful belief: every child, regardless of their abilities, deserves the opportunity to shine and achieve their fullest potential.
Our founder director, a visionary with a heart full of compassion, saw the need for a facility where children with special needs could thrive alongside their neurotypical peers. She envisioned a place where these children would not only receive the support they need but also be celebrated for their unique talents and abilities. This vision gave birth to Asmita, a sanctuary where dreams are nurtured, and possibilities are endless.
Second, we are committed to empowering our students to break through barriers and redefine what is possible. We believe that with the right support and encouragement, our youngsters can achieve extraordinary things. Our goal is to see them become TED Talk speakers, bakers, teachers, DJs, and so much more. We want them to dream big and reach for the stars, knowing that they have the strength and capability to achieve anything they set their minds to.
Asmita is more than just a facility; it is a movement. It is a call to action for all of us to recognize and celebrate the potential within every child. It is a reminder that with passion, dedication, and a supportive community, we can turn dreams into reality. The time to actualize this dream is now, and we invite you to join us on this incredible journey. Together, we can create a world where every child is given the chance to shine and make their mark on the world.
Founder Director
Swati Jog
Her passion and conviction helped her to create a unique facility called Asmita Learning Centre. It is fondly referred to as ALC.
What began as a service to 2 students has multiplied into 20 + students with a dozen pass-outs with flying colours.
She set up Asmita [which incidentally means ‘PRIDE’] with a strong belief that every child with special needs can be taught, trained, enriched and empowered to become a net contributor to society.
Besides offering formal courses of certification, she has discovered other avenues which can be termed as preparation for vocational courses and the same had been launched in the academic year of 21-22.
The idea of IEPs and individualised teaching and learning is to empower the students and the goal is to wean them off the system to make them as independent as possible.
To conclude she says ‘ Her greatest supporter is GOD and she truly believes in the saying,
‘God helps those who help themselves’.
Kajal Shetty
Kajal Shetty has shown tremendous potential to become an excellent facilitator for neurodiverse youngsters. One of her key strengths is ‘reaching out to the kid’. Communication between them is invariably effective. Her gentle but firm persistence in getting the students under her care to respond and act is noteworthy. She holds the attention of even the most distracted child with her singing and storytelling. Another talent under her belt is her ability to discipline children through social stories. In a short span of 3 months, we have parents telling us how much better behaved their kids are at home.
Kajal is warm and friendly with other team members. She is very social hence her community reach is wide.
Kajal is a great asset to ALC. It will not be amiss to say that in the near future Kajal can easily be at the helm of ALC.
